Set within a garden and situated between two great parks, the Trombley House Seminar + Residency is an ideal location for durational studies | research | and seminars with invited guests of the ISP.

Conversation
The House as site of conversation, conviviality, and study is inspired by Kettle’s Yard, Pontigny (in Mount Holyoke), Villa I Tatti, Dumbarton Oaks, but also the aesthetics of domesticity explored by key avant-garde traditions.

Library
Available to ISP participants and guests in the THSR is a rich and exceptional Library for the ISP approach to the making and study of Art and Art Writing as a Critical Practice: Philosophy, Psycho-Analysis, Phenomenology, Anthropology, Theology, Architecture, Art Histories, Historiography, Warburg, Fashion, Pedagogy, Afro-Pessimism, Critical Theory, Cultural Studies, Film Studies, Poetry, Dance, Music, Opera, Ethnomusicology, Performance, Social Practice, Theatre, World Literature.

City and suburbs
As students and guests move between the ISP at the Boyer Campbell Building in Detroit Design District and the Trombley House Seminar + Residency in Grosse Pointe Park they will quickly realize that they are also participating in the great tradition of city and suburb linked through art and learning that is part of the DNA of Detroit and its great cultural institutions.
