DDD Detroit ISP Application Requirements
Eligibility
The Detroit ISP is open to graduate students as well as undergraduates whose work shows an ability for sustained advanced scholarship. However, admission to the Detroit ISP is based solely on the quality of the independent study proposal, supporting materials, and two references.
Expectations
The aim of the Detroit ISP is to foster community as an effective medium of artistic and intellectual flourishing; to this end, studios, workspaces, and gathering spaces are provided both for study and convivial practices for Fellows and guests. The curriculum is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary conversations and practices which will only be possible if Fellows fully participate in the seminars, readings, and events (film screenings, performances) curated for the Fellows and actively engage with the visiting speakers made available for the Detroit ISP community. Fellows are (i) expected to attend weekly events and to use the studios / study spaces made available for them, (ii) to prepare for engagement with the community of Fellows and visitors, (iii) and also attend a weekly lunch with invited guests for discussions on topics important to the practice of the community of Fellows. Unless pandemic conditions prevail or accommodations are required there will be no remote options available.
The Boyer Campbell Building has 24/7 access for Fellows of the Detroit ISP unless otherwise indicated by either the Executive Director or the Associate Director or an officer of the Detroit Design District.
